The Writers of Lore

Throughout the ages, man has written and shared the lore of their homelands.

Tales of great wars, rulers, events and even personal experiences are used like paints on a canvas, painting history's portrait. With the sharing of these tales, the past can remain alive and serve as a reminder to how far we've come.

Most cultures have a designated individual or group solely responsible for recording history. These individuals are highly respected as they will dedicate their lifetime to marking and sharing the history of their people.

In Herocraft, we call them Lore Masters.

Strongholdx

The Beginning

Appointed by Kainzo, during the late months of 2011, the Lore Masters Team began with Strongholdx.

After a few months had gone by, Kainzo chose another player, Alator, to join the team. Together, Strongholdx and Alator worked on one of Herocraft's biggest projects and helped shape the foundation of The Multiverse.

Alator

The Lore Team

The Lore Masters Team currently consists of Alator.

As the oldest Lore Master, Alator is also the head of the Lore Team. He's in charge of reviewing and accepting applications, assigning projects, managing his own projects, and doing a lot of behind the scenes work. He is currently working on documenting the general history and mechanics of the Multiverse and investigating the downfall of Dragonguarde.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Lore Master

Duties

Herocraft is a huge server with lots of unusual and unexplained places, creatures, and events. The duties of a Lore Master revolve around the creation of myths, tales, and story-lines that explain how these things came to be in The Multiverse.

These are some of the duties that our Lore Masters may be involved with:
  • Main Lore Creation - The creation of our Main Lore is the most important duty our Lore Masters have. What's Herocraft's history? How was the Multiverse created? What caused the fall of our beloved maps? Our Lore will answer these questions and more.
  • Mini Lore Creation - Unlike Main Lore, Mini Lore is essentially stories and tales that fit in with the main lore and possibly dip into it without changing it. Lore about townships, guilds, admins, important players, events, and wars are good.
  • Side Stories Creation - This is where our Lore Masters can really get creative. Side stories can be about almost anything* as long as it fits within the theme of Herocraft. These stories can take place on any map and at any time as long as they don't interfere with the main and mini Lore of the Multiverse.
  • Quest Story Creation - Quests are an important factor in all RPG's and MMORPG's. They give players a chance to really assume the role as a different character while rewarding them with all kinds of things. These quest stories can be anything and everything.**
  • Quest Scripting - Scripting a quest is a duty that not all Lore Masters will get to do. Scripting consists of using YAML Formatting to properly organize and code commands and NPC interactions.

Responsibilities

Every Lore Master has 3 Responsibilities that they must keep up with at all times:
  1. Frequently update long-term projects when able.
  2. Complete assigned projects and assignments by deadlines.
  3. Attend Bi-Monthly team meetings on Saturdays, 5pm CST.
Failure to uphold these responsibilities may result in removal from the team.

So you want to join the team, aye?
