As many of you may already know, Herocraft has just released a new map called Forgelight!

This map has the basic rules and regulations as that of Warshard, and can be found nearby the portal to Warshard, in the Nexus (in spawn).

Most of the map has been reported to be "very mountainous" meaning miners should have lots of luck finding emerald in this one.

Check out Dielan9999's Thread to see some breathtaking snapshots of both Bastion and Forgelight!

Blog update!

The upcoming weeks there will be me, EtKEnn, who updates the blog as MsGiGi is busy with holidays and such. There won't be posts on the blog as frequently as it used to, but the normal schedule will have priority. Most likely there won't be a new post every single day, but the blog will be back with the normal schedule in January when MsGiGi is back.

Thanks for your patience and happy holidays!

Late Weekly Update

This Friday, the server will be hosting "Rated Arenas" at 7pm CST. This is the equivalent of PVP/Skirmish battles but they are rated and ranked accordingly. With this, players can test their ultimate skills and gain access to new and unique titles once they reach above a specific rating.

Also, there was an update recently on the Patch notes for the sever (as Kainzo announced). The biggest excitement from this - Turret, a new skill that engineers get that acts as a means to defend a town or base from other players (like a dispenser but better!).

New titles are also available in celebration of Kainzo's birthday! This includes both prefixes and suffixes this time. Get these limited edition titles while you can!

Stay tuned for a "Class of the Week" post.

Q&A - Skills

For this week's Q&A, we're going to be covering some of the most important rules of Herocraft.

Each day, dozens of first-time users log into Herocraft to check us out. Most first time users rarely take the time to get acquainted with the rules and some even have trouble remembering what is and is not allowed on the server just because they've played on so many!

Here are some commonly-asked questions for those who may need a little help understanding the Do's and Don't's of Herocraft:

  1. Are Hack-clients or X-ray plugins allowed on the server?
    No. You may not use any hack-clients or x-ray mods/plugins on our server. We have plugins that detect the usage of these clients, mods, and plugins, and you will be automatically banned from our server if you use any of these on our servers. We also log every action on the server and so you will be caught and you will be banned, even if you believe your client is "undetectable".
  2. Are Mods and Texture-packs allowed on the server?
    Yes, some Mods are allowed and all texture-packs are allowed on our servers. For a full list of allowed and disallowed mods and plugins, please visit our Mods Thread
  3. Is griefing allowed?
    Griefing is currently only allowed in Warshard. It is, however, illegal in Bastion (the main world). Griefing is constituted as the stealing of non-valuable blocks such as dirt, wood, stone, chests, and even farms and trees. It is also constituted as mindlessly destroying random things in the wild, placing blocks on another player's property, and leaving abusive messages or changing the messages on already placed signs.
  4. Is Exploiting illegal?
    Yes, exploiting is illegal in every way, shape, and form. If you happen to stumble upon an exploit on the server, we encourage our members to create an exploit-report on our forums. Exploiting is considered an action, or series of actions, in which you use glitch or bug in your favor to do or access things that you would not normally be able to do in normal situations.
  5. What isn't allowed in public chats?
    Memes/Ebonics, Drama and/or insults, ALL CAPS, overuse of profanity, and spam are never allowed in public chat channels. Advertising another server on our servers is strictly forbidden in ALL channels and you will be banned immediately for doing so.
  6. Am I allowed to have multiple accounts?
    No. Multiple accounts (or alternate accounts) is strictly forbidden on our servers. If you have a sibling, friend, cousin, or another person who may share the same computer or same IP, please check out our Multiple Accounts Thread. If you're working on getting (or already are) whitelisted, please contact a Proctor immediately on the forums.

For a complete list of our rules and regulations, please see our Service Rules Thread and please be sure to check out our Wiki

Skin Spotlight / PVP Spotlight

I decided to combine these 2 posts since they're both relatively short compared to this week's "Town of the Week" post.

First up, this week's "Skin Spotlight" goes to the Freepers (aka Fire Creepers).

As you can see in the picture provided, their skins are very unique and highly recognizable throughout the server. They feature a sort-of fire camouflage with customized masks, allowing guild members to give their uniform it's own personalized twist while keeping the initial skin concept. This makes it easier for guild members to identify each other when raiding or taking part in PVP.

Their Founders, Pandaman7 and Sigpit, formed this neutral guild specifically to challenge the Tree Creepers in the domain of warfare, raiding and pillaging their way to victory.

Due to this, both guilds (the TC and the FC) are sworn enemies, often at war with each other and any allies of the opposition.

Next, this week's "PVP Spotlight" goes to c12095, the headmaster of the Tree Creepers (ironic, I know).

Catch Up!

Due to some unfortunate technical problems, some of this week's blog posts were not covered.

Thankfully, these issues have been fixed and we are busy, working away, to bring you the latest coverage on our Skin Spotlight and who's top-dog in today's PVP Spotlight

Stay tuned for more info!

Editor's Note:
Our "Town of the Week" post will be postponed for next week. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Thank you.

Player Shot 2 - Going Batty with Thieving Zombies!

We have a double-screenie feature for you today!

This screenshot comes from our Senior Proctor / Moderator, Angyles, and takes place in her very own little lounge in Spawn. Believe it or not, Angyles, Danda, and 700 bats were in the cage in this picture.

If you want to get your own cute little bat, or another creature to be your loving companion, visit our Pet Store and buy one for yourself or even a friend!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This next screenshot comes from our user, Donaldmax1, and features a Sulfur-wielding Zombie. According to the user, the Zombie is actually wielding the loot it picked-up after the slaying of a Creeper. It must have been a professional Thief in his former life.
Class Of The Week - Rogue
One of the 4 Basic Paths, and notorious for sneak-attacks, the Stealthy Rogue is best noted for it's highly powerful offense while being able to slip away into the shadows.
A Rogue starts of with 410 Base-HP, gradually increasing their HP by 9 points as they level, granting them a total max-HP of 680 points at level 30 (the level cap for all basic classes).
Juggling both Melee and Archery skills, a Rogue is just as good from a distance as they are up close. The best weaponry for these guys is to always have a Bow with plenty of Arrows (deals 55 dmg) and an Iron-sword (deals 60 dmg) for close-quarters melee combat. These guys pack a punch with their swords, giving them an extra 18 damage points on the Iron Sword compared to Warriors. IF you don't have an Iron Sword laying around, you can still get by with stone swords (45 dmg) and even wooden swords (30 dmg), but this isn't advised unless you're prepared to let your bow and skills do all the work.
Skills and Abilities
If you're experienced with the basic skill system, you won't have any problems with this class. A Rogue's damage isn't solely focused on their skills, but they do pack a huge punch when used properly. There are 3 skills to this class; 1 passive skill, 1 direct-hit skill, and 1 skill that is certainly unlike any other skills you will find in the 4 Basic classes.
Sneak is the first skill you will learn, kicking the class off at level 5. This Passive skill is what really makes this class powerful, because you could be right around the corner and nobody would know until after you took damage. This skill works by putting you into a "sneak" state for 8 minutes. You will stay in this state even when you attack or kill another player, as long as you don't take any damage or get hit. The cooldown for this skill is only 3 seconds with a stamina cost of 10.
Kick is later gained at level 15, and is definitely worth the patience it takes to get there. This aggressive skill does 67 points in direct damage and silences your opponent for 2.5 seconds. That's a long enough window to do some serious damage without taking any at all and can prove useful if your opponent is preparing to use a powerful skill on you. Although the cooldown is 10 seconds long, this skill only costs 6 stamina, making it a great skill to use when you're low on stamina and need to buy some time.
The last skill gained is Envenom, acquired at level 25, and could be one of the most potent and most convenient skills you could have in a basic class with a small stamina cost of 6 and an even smaller cooldown of 3 seconds long. Envenom poisons your sword for 30 seconds, meaning that your opponent will be damaged an additional 19 damage every 2 seconds, for 6 seconds after the initial blow. That's 57 damage on top of the 60 damage dealt from just the first hit, dealing a total of 117 damage points with just one hit.
Strategies
Group Battle
When you're in a group, you can choose to be either upfront with Melee or a little further away with Range attacks. The best strategy for group battles as a Rogue is to be beside the "Tank" (if there is one) and directing your attacks to the main "focus" of whom is attacking the Tank. You can also choose to stay back, closer to any Casters or Healers to protect them, while still being able to your range-shots against the opponent. It is best to know what classes you're working with first, rather than immediately assume your role as a Rogue, especially if there are multiple Rogues in one group.
Going Solo
Unlike with Warriors, Rogues are very flexible in their advantaged battlegrounds. You can take to the waters and open areas with your Bow or you can take to areas like forests and caves for forced melee combat. It depends on what you're most comfortable with and who you're up against. When going solo against a Warrior, your best bet is to take to an area that forces them either into the open or an area that will help you gain distance and use your range attacks, giving you the upper hand. If you're fighting against a Caster, you would instead do the exact opposite as you would with a warrior and try to take cover in a forest or someplace that would encourage melee combat. Just as Warriors are melee based, Casters are range based, and so you want to use that against them before they can use it against you (and their fireballs do more damage than your bows do). If you're going against a Healer, you want to do as much damage as you possibly can in the shortest amount of time to prevent them from healing themselves in the midst of your attacks, wasting your stamina. If your opponent is another Rogue, be sure you know your personal weakness and pick accordingly. If you're better at the bow, go range. If not, go melee.
Weaknesses
  1. Not Knowing Your Role - This isn't exactly an official weakness only because it varies from player to player. This is, however, something that new Rogues need to always be aware of. You always want to do the exact opposite of your opponent (range for melee, melee for range). If you don't, the battle will be quick as their specialties will quickly wipe-out your health.
  2. Healers - Some may laugh at this, but it is true. Nearly every class has a slight weakness to healers mostly because many players don't realize they need to do as much damage as they can as quickly as they can. A Healer's entire role is focused on healing themselves and others, with one very powerful skill that does a lot of damage. With not having any way to heal, your only possible shot is to melee them and, if they run away, silence them with your kick and shoot away (if you have a bow).
Now that you know the basic mechanics of the class, get out there and level, practice, and kick some butt, Hero!
Q&A - The Basics
This week's Top 10 Richest Players
For this week's Q&A, we're going to be covering the Basics of Herocraft (aka the questions that are asked every day).
Each day, dozens of first-time users log into Herocraft to check us out. Because Herocraft's game-mechanics are so original and different, most users tend to have some trouble understanding everything about the server.
Here are some commonly-asked questions for those newbies who could use the extra help and advice:
  1. Where am I?
    When players log in for the first time, they spawn in Herocraft's "Tutorial" area. This area will teach you the basics about our server, a few of the plugins, what you can do as a Grey-listed member (for those who aren't whitelisted when they first log in), and how to choose your classes and speak in chat. By following the signs, you should find your way to the exit, taking you to Bastion (spawn city). You can also leave the Tutorial area by using the command "/skill warp". This will immediately teleport you to Bastion.
  2. How do I choose my classes?
    When a player first logs in, they are considered a "Lost Soul". The player must choose their classes to become a Hero by using the appropriate commands. This is all explained on both the Wiki and in the Tutorial area. For those who rather not read through the wiki and have skipped through the Tutorial, you can choose/change classes by using "/hero choose <path>". This will only change your Main class. If you're absolutely sure about your decision, use "/hero confirm". If you've changed your mind, use "/hero cancel" to negate the previous command.
    To change your profession, the process is still the same; However, you must use "/hero prof Crafter" if you're just starting out. After you've mastered "Crafter" at level 30, you can then use "/hero prof <profession>" to choose your profession. Again, use "/hero confirm" afterwards to confirm the selection, or use "/hero cancel" to negate the selection.
  3. How do I get Money/Coins?
    Earning coin on the server isn't hard. The most easiest way to earn coin on the server is actually by voting for the server at the appropriate sites, listed at hc.to/vote. Heroes who vote can earn up to 18 coin a day just from voting. Other ways Heroes can earn coin is by leveling/mastering their classes, completing quests, selling gold ingots to DHX, and by selling items and services to other players.
  4. How do I level?Players can level both their Main and Profession classes.
    The easiest way to gain experience for your main class is by voting at the 6 sites listed at hc.to/vote. By voting, you can earn up to 300 experience. You can also gain experience for your main class by killing mobs, killing other players, or by doing quests.
    Leveling your Profession class is a bit more complicated, depending on what class you are. The easiest way to level us is by mining, as valuable ores grant a lot of experience. However, if you're a Farmer, mining does not grant experience thus you must rely on harvesting farms, shearing sheep, or chopping down trees to gain experience.
  5. Whats the difference between being Grey-listed and being White-listed?
    Non-whitelisted members cannot open chests or place/destroy blocks in the Main world. They also cannot speak in global chat channels. This is mostly to prevent spambots and/or hackers from being able to log in and wreck havoc on the server before an admin or mod has the chance to ban them.
  6. How do I get White-listed?
    To get Whitelisted, you must sign up on the forums at www.Herocraftonline.com, click the "Get Whitelisted!" tab on the hot bar, read and follow the instructions and tips for getting whitelisted, and then post your "Thread" up and wait patiently for a Proctor to review your application. This may take up to 24 hours so please be patient and always check back to make sure a proctor hasn't asked you a question about your application. Also, always be 100% honest on your application and never ask a mod, admin, or another staff member to look at your application.
Town of the Week - Bastion
How could we possibly do our first "Town of the Week" blog post if we didn't do it on the most important town on the entire Server?
For this week's TOTW, we put Bastion in the spotlight.
Bastion, located in the exact center of the map, is also known as "Spawn City" and is home to some very important places in the main world. This is where new Heroes "spawn" for the first time (after they've completed the tutorial area of course) and choose their destiny in the realm of Heroes.
When you first spawn here, you'll actually find yourself in the Main Hall of the castle, on top of a floating platform, enchanted with ancient magic (presumed to be powered by the glowstone above it). Once you're here, it's time to jump down and explore this new world.
If you're not spawning here for the first time, you can also get here by walking, using the skill "warp" (if you're an un-spec'ed crafter), getting a teleport from another Hero, or by using the "Port" skill if you're a level 30+ Wizard or Mystic. You can also get here by taking a portal to The Nexus (from any of the Herogates or from specific portals on the server).
The Nexus is located inside Bastion, and is home to portals that lead to different worlds and places throughout the server. Inside it, you will find most portals are marked with their destinations and that there is plenty of room for more. This is because Herocraft has big plans for the server and the several maps we have already is only the beginning.
The next important place in Bastion is known specifically as Herocraft's DHX. Also known as Herocraft's bank, the DHX is one of the most important places in the world of Bastion. This is because this is how Heroes make the majority of their coin when they are first starting out on the server. This can be considered the heart of the economy and without it, it would be much harder to get rich on the server.
At the DHX, players can sell their gold ingots for 9 coins each, and with it all set up like a bank, you can even sell you gold in bulk, saving your fingers the clicks if you're carrying several stacks of gold in your inventory.
The DHX can be found by following the signs that lead up the first set of stairs, all the way to the top, into another section of Bastion's castle, and just over half-way up the next flight of stairs (there will be a sign marking it so you can't miss it). Be sure to hug the wall when going up these stairs; It's not uncommon for Heroes to tread carelessly and fall, losing both their precious gold and their life.
Skin Spotlight - Tree Creepers
This weeks first ever "Skin Spotlight" goes to the rulers of PVP, The Tree Creepers!
The Tree Creepers (aka TC) is a PVP Guild notorious for their well-organized strategies and teamwork. The Guild comprises of 20 to 25 members, with many hopefuls in the queue for their "big break". Their ring leader, C12095, had only one goal in mind when he re-created the guild for Herocraft's new map; Quickly dominate Herocraft's PvP frontier.
It seems this idea has worked for many maps already, so why should it fail?
Because of their name and legacy, most heroes are actually hesitant to leave the safety of their "PVP-Free" zones when they see this cleverly-created skin that has become strongly associated with the TC. It's actually become so associated with the TC that non-TC who wear the skin may be targeted by other players who aren't thrilled about the presents of a potentially-hostile Hero (especially if they're caught alone and off-guard).
Though the skins have a basic concept, each skin from the group is entirely unique as every player who wears the skin is allowed to customize the mask. This means you may find these skins with all kinds of different faces and masks on it, each as unique as the next.
Player Shot 1 - Feet Need Hats Too
This picture is part of a screenshot, taken by MultiHeartGold. As you probably noticed, he's wearing 2 chain Helmets; one on his head and one on his feet (where his boots should be).
According to the Hero, he Logged in and died. When he went to check his inventory, he found out he had his Chain Helmet on where his boots should be. He put another one on and went about his merry way after taking a screenshot of this bizarre incident.
Class Of The Week - Warrior
One of the 4 Basic Paths, and one of the most basic combat classes Herocraft has to offer, the Noble Warrior is best noted for it's ability to tank damage with it's heavy armor and extra health.
It starts off with a 420 Base-HP, 10 points more than the other three Paths. As the Warrior levels up, they gain an additional 9 HP per level, granting them a max of 690 Health Points at level 30 (the level cap for all basic Paths).
As a melee combat class, a Warrior's best weapon of choice is an Iron sword, which deals 42 points of damage to an unarmored opponent. If an Iron sword is not available, a stone sword (deals 38 dmg), or even wooden sword (deals 32 dmg), can be used instead.
Skills and Abilities
This class is the simplest of classes to learn because it deals specifically in melee combat, with little reliance on special abilities and skills. It comprises of 1 basic skill and 4 special skills that are entirely unique to the Warrior Path. These 4 skills are Bash, Taunt, Strike, and Disarm.
Bash is a skill gained only when the Warrior has reached level 5. This skill utilizes the Warrior's inner strength to hit the opponent, knocking them back slightly, while dealing 89 (+0.1 per level) points in damage and, while only costing this fierce fighter 10 Stamina. This skill also has a cooldown of 5 seconds.
The next skill, Taunt, is gained at level 10. With this ability, the Warrior can taunt the surrounding mobs so that they are only aggro'd on them, saving their teammates from potentially-lethal damage. This ability greatly makes use of the Warrior's extra HP and ability to wear heavy armor that other classes can't handle, like Iron Chestplates and Chainmail. This ability costs 10 stamina with a small cooldown of 3 seconds, making this a very handy skill when you're mob-hunting in the wild.
Kainzo's awesome new Minecon Cape
New update coming soon!
(Stay tuned for more info!)
Nov 23, 2012
Architecture Contest! (Spire Edition!)
Lord Kainzo
Alright Heroes, we have a very special announcement to make for you all today:
Herocraft is hosting an Architecture Contest, where players test their architectural skills to build Herocraft's future Spires. Out of the 4 Spires, Herocraft has only one: Water. That means that the world of Bastion must rely on it's creative and structurally-clever Heroes to come up with the designs for the other 3 Spires; Sand, Forest, and Snow.
Winners of the contest will receive a $5 pet of their choice and 1,000 coins. Because there are 3 Spires, multiple Heroes may win. This means that players have a chance to win up to $15 in free pets and up to 3,000 coins.
Rules and Requirements:
  • Structures must fit in a 30 x 30 with no max height (keep the height reasonable though)
  • Must have an area for a beacon (can be marked with a sign)
  • No Teamwork (only one player per entry)
  • No stealing from someone's supply chest
  • No Griefing or Stealing Blocks
  • No Plagiarism/Copying another player
It is not required, but it is requested that players try to incorporate a place in the spire(s) for future NPC's.
To enter the contest, got to the Nexus and look for the portal labeled "Spire Competition". Then, contact an admin to be giving a plot and place a sign down to claim your work space.
Please note that all structures must be completed and ready for official entry by November 30th. Winners will be announced early, November 30th. Players will then have one week to remove their entries before the entire contest area is wiped.
For complete information about the contest, please visit Danda's original Architecture Contest Thread.
Happy Thanks Giving!
Today is a long Blogger update with some snazzy Kainzo-inspired artwork by our user, FaredX. There's one particular thing on the agenda for today's discussion, and a few of you may or may-not have an idea for what that thing is.
But first!
To kick things off, I hope all of our American Heroes are having a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families and friends. Anyone else who may-not be from the US or don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope your weekends are both safe and fun. No word yet on if there's going to be a special event tonight, but if I hear anything I will keep your guys posted.
Now, as you may have noticed, the schedule was released late last night for the blog (you can find it on the left, just under our "About Us" section). Though this schedule may change just a little, this is still expected to be the basic schedule for our blog.
We'll start off the week with a Weekly Update (Mondays) to get our users up-to-date with the latest trends and changes on both the forums and the server. This could include anything from bug fixes and add-ins on the server to suggestions to even just off-topic chatter that is gaining popularity within the forums.
Then, on Tuesdays, we'll be covering an available Hero Class (Profession and Main classes) in our Class of the Week posts. With these posts, we'll be covering the skills, armor, tools and weapons, what they're best known for, and (if a Main class) which classes they have an advantage and disadvantage to. We may also feature some user content, be it excerpts and quotes to even artwork inspired by their favorite classes.
Trade Away!
These days, trying to trade with other fellow Heroes can be tough. Negotiating prices, traveling to meet the trader, and even making sure you don't get screwed over can leave a Hero feeling rather discouraged.That's why Herocraft has a few things on the server, created specifically to cater to your every need when you're trying to secure that deal.
The first thing every hero should know about is how to ensure that you won't be tricked and lose coin and/or valuable items. As you may have noticed, there are several chat channels on the server, each one with their own purpose. One chat channel every player should know about is the Trade Channel (/ch t). The purpose for this channel is to discuss anything trade related. This is for negotiating prices, looking for buyers and sellers of both items and services, and for making all trade deals "official".
When a deal is made in trade chat, it becomes official, therefor you never have to worry about paying the other player and them not giving you the other side of the deal. Though the entire negotiating process can take place in "/tell"'s, only the basics of the deal need to be said (and mutually agreed on) in chat.
When your trade has gone the proper way and it's time to meet up with someone and exchange items, Herocraft has a server-side interaction, similar to the trading interaction you get when you trade with villagers.
To open up this interaction, right click the player with an empty hand to send a trade request. They can accept the request by doing the same.
To add items into the trade, simply move them into the box as you would when crafting. To add coin to the trade, you can click the gold nuggets, ingots, and blocks to increase the amount of coin sent by 1c, 10c, and 100c.
Did You Notice?
There have been some minor changes to the blog recently and one of them involves a new link in the "Important Links" section of the blog, "Our Store".
This link will take you straight to our Ethical Micro-Transaction Store, a new site that encourages donations to the server by rewarding users with all kinds of goodies and special perks.
These perks currently include Social Pets, Server-wide Experience Boosts, and even Limited-Edition titles.
Of coarse, the most talked about item in this store is the exclusive "Mass Bulk Social-Pets" package, which includes all 15 Social Pets for only $50. When buying these lovable creatures in the bulk package, you actually save $50 yourself.
If you're not too interested in the pets or you already have all the ones you want, fear not for soon there will be even more perks to buy and choose from! Here is just a small list of things that Kainzo and the Developers are working on:
  • Baby Zombies
  • Iron Golems
  • Creepers
  • Super-Charged Creepers
  • Blazes
  • Cats and Fullsized Dogs
  • More Limited Edition Titles
  • Hero Backpacks
Remember; All social-pets are non-aggressive and cannot be hit, hurt, or interacted with. However, as our user, KiwiGuy_NZ found out the other night; Iron Golems will still attempt to kill any pets that would-be aggressive (which makes for some interesting entertainment since they cannot be killed).
Feel free to submit some screenshots of you and your Social pet and we'll post them up on the blog! Also, don't forgot to subscribe to the blog, like us, share us, +1 us, and all that other jazz.
And as always, please visit www.Herocraftonline.com for more info about the server and any events or new features.
Behold the absolute epicness!
Feel free to share this anywhere and everywhere guys! This is a little design that comes from yours truly (MsGigi).
It's A (not so quick) Quickie!
Alright, so a LOT has been going on the past few weeks with Danda getting promoted, the new updates on herocraft, and a few additions and fixes on Herocraft.
First things first: Herocraft has been updated and is now compatible with Minecraft's 1.4.4 update (patch 4.27)! This means it is now safe to update your Minecraft client! With this patch/update, you will find a few changes and fixes. Here is just a few of them that occurred between the previous patch (4.21) and the recent one (4.27):
  • **Social Pets are Here!** All pets can be purchased at http://buy.herocraftonline.com/
  • "Chair Sitting" (a donor perk) was temporarily removed due to some issues when placing stairs while sneaking. This bug is currently being worked on
  • Item Picture Frames are now protected by "World guard" (meaning your items can no longer be stolen if in a regioned area).
  • Cooked Potatoes and Pumpkin Pies now regenerate health.
  • You can now receive coin for leveling up
  • Mastering a class now grants rewards
Traders Beware
"Oblivion" Courtesy of EtKEnn
A new market is available for players to explore and shop around in, and this one won't be your average "Trade District". Called the "Black Market", this new area in Bastion will give players both suspense and challenge as they cautiously shop for their goods, watching out for any possible hostile players.
The Black Market is split into two cities: Black Market West (BMW) and Black Market East (BME). BMW contains more homes with dark alley ways. BME has some mining shafts and tents for shops. In both areas, PVP will be on everywhere. However, there is no pvp within shops or NPC homes. The only exception to limited PVP is that if you are attacked outside a shop/home, your pvp will still carry with you when you enter a building, meaning you can still die. This is to eliminate boarder jumping, a common problem in the previous map.
Shops are for sale and quests are being planned for this area.
Useful Commands
Overview of Malkier
Herocraft is home to a lot of plugins; factions, economy, heroes, PVP, and even plugins for things you didn't even know existed on the server.
With these plugins come commands that are highly useful and at the fingertips of every player, but most hardly even know they're there. Those who do often have trouble with remembering or knowing the commands for what they want/need.
This is why it's important to always check out our Commands Page on the Herocraft Wiki.
On this page, players can see the commands for everything they have access to; be it lottery commands, the command for placing a bounty, or even the commands for choosing your Path and Profession. Though many of these commands won't exactly mean "life or death" when you may need them, it's always great to know where to go to find what you're looking for rather than experiment with possible commands or asking in Help Chat.
For more info about everything Herocraft, please visit www.HerocraftOnline.com
Also, don't forget to keep checking the "TOWNS" page for the latest updates on currently-active and recruiting towns on the server.
This week's shout out goes out to Malkier, for being the first town to get "City" regions on the current map. Congrats guys!
They're Here!
Herocraft's Social-Pets are now enabled on the server!
Please see the previous post for more info about what is available. If you're interested in contributing to get your very own Social-Pet, please visit http://hero.buycraft.net
For a limited time, you can also pay $50 to get them all, including the Bat when it's officially released!
Kainzo has also added in a Baby Zombie which sells for $20 for those who want to especially stand out.
If you're interested in test-driving this new feature for free, simply log in on the server and use the command "/pet" to test out a baby cow.
If you ever want to turn off this feature, you can use the same command ("/pet") to toggle it on and off.
All pets are respawnable. However, you can only have one following you around at a time.
For more info about these lovable little darlings, please visit www.HerocraftOnline.com to learn more and see what new creatures are being planned!
Do's and Do not's of Herocraft
I can swing my sword (sword)..
As a new player on the server, you may be a little "iffy" about what is and what isn't allowed on the server.
For some, even reading the rules can leave one slightly puzzled.
If you're one of those players... Well...
Here's a friendly list of both Do's and Do Not's to point you in the right direction:
  • Do Be friendly to all Staff members on the server (including Guides and Proctors).
  • Do Not Harass staff about white-list applications on the forums.
  • Do Build cute little houses and structures wherever you wish!
  • Do Not Build boxes, pure cobble structures, or distasteful structures that add no cosmetic value to the server.
  • Do Report any griefing of your structures if the structure is not in Warshard.
  • Do Not Grief another player's structure unless in Warshard.
  • Do Participate in chat topics in public chats, like Off-Topic and Tour.
  • Do Not Spam chat channels, chat in Trade or Help chats (unless appropriate), or harass/troll players.
  • Never Use Meme's, E-bonics, or any other form of trolling in global/public chats. You will be muted for "Arrow to the knee" jokes.
  • Do Feel free to use mini-maps and approved mods/plugins.
  • Do Not Use illegal hack clients, X-rays, fly-hacks, or any form of exploits on the server. You will be caught and permanently banned from the server.
  • Do Not Talk about hacks or bans in ANY public chat channel. Doing so will get you muted.
  • Always Report suspicious activity on the server. If someone is doing something that you believe is illegal on the server, capture the activity at once (using screenshots or FRAPS) and create a PE. Then, post all evidence collected in the "Exploits" section of the forums.
  • Never Annoy Kainzo. He will kill you. Yes. Kill you. Not kidding.
For more information about acceptable behavior on the server, please visit www.HerocraftOnline.com or visit the Rules section of our wiki.
