Dear Future Townies

Artwork by Victim130
Town Etiquette is something that is often "lost in translation" when new members are first joining the server, and/or looking to join a town.

When Towns get hit with a large number of newbies, especially those who do not know much about working with/for the town, the number of townies will quickly drop due to frustration and depleted energy/patience. When this happens, a number of issues can occur; the town is more susceptible for being raided, defensive teams break apart, friendships shatter, and the ability to work as a team is nearly impossible.

Within weeks, sometimes even days, a town can collapse completely on itself, leaving everything and everyone open as easy targets.

Even if this doesn't go so far, knowing proper Town Etiquette will cause you to be more accepted within the ranks of your future Townies. Those who have little to no etiquette (or don't seem to frankly care) will often wear out their welcome and get booted from the town, left in the dust with nowhere to live and nobody to help them.

Always remember these lovely qualities so that you may be an amazing town member!

  • Sharing is Caring! Share what you don't need so that others within your town may use what they do need.
  • Donate! Town upgrades are costly and one person can't do it on their own! Donating things you don't need, depending on the upgrade requirements, is one of the best things you can do!
  • Be Respectful! Because expressing bluntly that you dislike the town and everyone in it will probably get you kicked without warning.
  • Leave on Good Terms! If you leave on good terms with the townies, then they might be willing to give you aid in your time of need, despite Enemy and Alliance listings.
  • Get TeamSpeak! Raids and Defense activities always run smoother when you can talk versus stopping to type.
  • Be Productive! Things like raiding, mining, and even PVE are very productive for towns and both their activity levels and their economies! Towns with members who mine and raid frequently are usually the strongest and most active!
  • Keep the drama OUT! Drama and complications between town members are never a good thing. Your town should be your second family, not a high-school click competition!
  • Absolutely NO STEALING! Unless the rules express otherwise, most (if not all towns) have a strict Anti-stealing policy.
  • Follow All Town and Server Rules! Make sure you look up what these are before you apply. Some towns may require you to always donate each week and only want highly-active members.
  • Be Active! This one's obvious. If you're gone for more than 2 weeks, it's server's policy that every town must kick the townie and update their list on the forums. If you're going to be gone for an extended period of time, give someone a heads up before hand.

If you need anymore pointers or tips, don't be afraid to ask around! For a list of current towns, feel free to click on the "TOWNS" Tab.

To Update or Not to Update.. It's No longer a Question

As many of you know, the "Pretty Scary Update" was finally released Thursday, October 25th. This update includes a LOT of new stuff that I know many of you are too anxious to wait for.

The only problem is that Herocraft's Dev team is still working to tweak and update their plugins so that they work well with the new update.

A known issue with this is that, if you updated your Minecraft client anyways, you couldn't play on servers with the previous update. You'd have to wait for them to update their server before you could play on it or you'd have to download the previous update and miss out on the new additions to Minecraft.

Well, the developers from both Herocraft and Spout have a solution for you; Spoutcraft.

You can use your regular Minecraft client to play with all the nifty new updates from Mojang while not having to worry about waiting for your server to update. Plus, by using Spoutcraft, you get to use some pretty amazing features on the game like key bindings, a mini map, a party interface (so you can see their health and mana), donor commands, and more!

Herocraft - The Halloween Special

Herocraft has a cute little addition for you to add to your playtime routine!

With this new vanilla server, you still get to play around with some of the Heroes plugins while also exploring the latest additions to Minecraft like witches, flowerpots, carrots on a stick, and even the new Wither Skeletons.

Now, it is advisable to wear a diaper when deciding to battle the terrifying new boss, Wither. Why? Well... Nobody's really survived yet to tell us why.

If you're interested in joining other players in this spooktacular fun, join us at vanilla.herocraftonline.com and give us a boo!

On Herocraft, most users would tell you that the server is clean and perfect. But underneath this beautiful image is a very dark dilemma that is spreading through the worlds - Neotetro’s exploding meth labs.

Stand above the influence… Or at least make sure your lab doesn’t explode and infect the water. The fish are starting to look weird.

It's a Quickie!

Super fast update and GO!

HerocraftOnline.com was DDOS'd for quite some time after the server was moved to avoid further attacks. The website is now back up with no problems!

The birthday-week of Herocraft (last week) was a huge success! Everyone enjoyed the extra Experience and events and a few even got some rare collectible goodies!

Kainzo has added a new feature to the server that spawns a zombie, or another semi-harmless mob, on all players to kill off any AFK players. The spawn is server-wide and occurs at the same time for nearly all players, every 30 to 60 minutes.

The top donor to win the custom title was Weynard with his contribution of $666. MatTripp came in 2nd place with $500 and 3rd place was granted to TheTXlibra for his contribution of $150. Herocraft raised over $2,300 during the special event. Most of the donations go directly to the server and a small percentage goes to the developers for their hard work in developing and updating the plugins for the server.

Keep checking back here for more info and updates!

Soon to come: The completion of the blog's "TOWNS" page!

Yet Another DDOS

At precisely 3pm CST, the server went down for over 7 hours straight.

Nobody on the server knew why and suspicions went around that it may have been another attack from Craftlandia.

Those suspicions were admitted to be correct when Kainzo revealed his findings. Herocraft is being attacked again at a rate of 8Gbps.

Kainzo stated this in a post regarding the recent series of attacks:

"We've payed javapipe another $160 to thwart it, to coordinate this swap we had to give them a new IP granted via the host. Somehow, our new hidden IP has been attacked as well. This was suppose to be a very quick/easy fix but has turned out to be more troublesome because the attackers are out for blood.

Haven't a clue [who] it is but I can only assume its from Brazil. We've nullrouted/hard blocked over 2000 bots so far, it's a scale of about 8Gbps."

Currently the server is back-up and free to play on once more, with 50% bonus experience for all experience.

As has been declared by the community of Herocraft; Despite getting attacked, celebration resumes as the week goes on with specials and events.

"History" - Now Up

The page "History" has been updated with information about the start and struggle of the server.

Feel free to click the tab (or the link above) to view it.

Today marks the 3rd day in the event week on the server, in celebration of Herocraft's 2nd birthday.

Please do not be discouraged if you find the server is not working for you, lately the host of the server has been having some technical difficulties and Kainzo is working tediously at getting the problem fixed.

And We're Back!

So much has happened within the last week on the server, leaving most of the members of Herocraft with their hands tangled in quests, leveling, and working hard to upgrade their towns.

Within recent news, yesterday was Herocraft's second birthday. This make Herocraft 2 years and 1 day old today! We've come a long way.

Due to this special occasion, all week we'll be giving out bonus experience with 20%-50% gain increases for all experience including crafting experience, mob experience, mining/harvesting experience, and quest experiences.

On top of this, there will be a daily event held all over the server for your mob slaying and PVP entertainment and survivors of such events will be rewarded generously.

Last but not least, for this week only, players have the ability to donate to get rare limited-edition titles (Prefix's and Suffix's). The amounts and each title gained are listed below:
  • $20: will receive = suffix title (vip1)
  • $40: will receive =  suffix title (vip2)
  • $60: will receive = suffix title (vip3)
  • $80: will receive = suffix title (vip4)
  • $100: will receive = suffix title (vip5)
  • $150: will receive = suffix title (vip6)
  • $400+ will receive = suffix title (vipspecial)
