Adventure map Sneak Peek.

Sneak Peak of the planned adventure map

I have to say, I am very excited for the adventure map. Even though they are very early in the progress, these screenshots are astonishing. Danda also mentioned that it will take a long time to get scripts and plugins right, so we probably won't see the adventure map ready anytime soon (They are working on the PvE map aswell).

Anyways, I will post updates as they come. I haven't been active lately and that is due to the fact that November is the end of term month so I have multiple tests and presentation every week at school. I will hopefully have more time in December to get back to full activity.

Weekly poll 4# results

Week 4 poll results

Sorry for this being delayed, got midterms on school right now so my activity on the blog is limited for a while. Anyways, I asked ''What sort of player are you'' and here are the results:

Top 3

PvP Specialist comes in on first place with 8 votes, right behind it we find Social playerstyle and in third place Builder.

Thanks to everyone who voted,  make sure to visit and vote every week!

Small update:
I'll get some town interviews & special posts going after my midterms, probably in late November or December.

Weekly Poll 3# Results

Week 3 poll results

Sorry for delayed post

Last week I asked the community ''What's your favorite profession'', 31 people took the time to vote on their favorites and here are the results:

Top 3
On the first place we have Smith and Merchant, with 9 points each. Merchant has the ability to create ChestShops, trade with villagers and gift items over a distance. Smith can forge chainmail, repair tools/armor and deconstruct tools/armor.

On third place we find Enchanter and Engineer, with Engineer recently being merged with Mason it's no surprise that the class is popular. An enchanter can use the vanilla feature of Enchanting, while an Engineer can use redstone ICs and create Gates, Bridges, secret doors and lifts.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote! This week's question is: ''What sort of player are you?'' The question is multiple choice, so you can vote more than one speciality.

Weekly Poll 2# Results

Week 2 Poll Results

Last week I asked the community ''What's your favorite attribute?''. We got in as many as 48 unique votes which is a record. Here are the results:

Top 3:
For a long time it looked like it would be either Strength or Charisma were gonna win, but during the last 30 minutes of the poll we received around a dozen votes that changed the tides completly. Agility ended up getting a clear victory with 19 votes, in front of Strength and Charisma that shared the second place with 15 votes each.
Other results:
Endurance and Intellect shared a fourth place, each with 13 votes, constitution ends up on a sixth place with 10 votes and wisdom comes in last place with only 9 votes.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote! This week's question is: ''What's your favorite profession?''. Vote for your favorite on the left side of the page.

Screenshots from week #1

I'll be starting up a new weekly thing where I will be posting screenshots of my experiences on Haven. I will be making a schedule for the blog soon, so stay tuned.

Week #1 - The Beginnings

I decided to adventure trough the spawn area and I stumbled across this:

Meeting my first donkey ever in Minecraft
Mastered Lost Soul, decided to specialize into Ninja and at this point I started seeking out PvP.

Killing a lvl 46 Beguiler while only being a lvl 14 Ninja myself, it was a 1v2 situation for me, so his partner killed me seconds after but it was a thrilling and fun experience nonetheless.

Being chased by 8 Silvermede members after roaming their territory looking for targets to assassinate, using my ninja skills such as Fade and Smoke to set up ambushes and to escape if they got too many. In the end they gathered all the citizens into one large party and went on a manhunt on me. After a few minutes of running around like this they caught me and I was quickly disposed of.
A screenshot taken just as more than 200 players attempt to jump into the portal that leads to the main server.
A screenshot showing the Deathchest feature. If you die while having a chest and a sign in your inventory (Sign is optional), you will spawn a ''tomb'' that automatically gets LWC protected for 5 minutes with your belongings in it.

That's it for this time, more screenshots next week so stay tuned!

Week 1 Poll results

So last Friday I asked the community: ''What's your favorite PvP role?''. We got in a lot of votes and on Friday night this week, the results looked like this:

As you can see, Assassin won with 15 votes, followed by Mage (10 Votes) and Tank (8 votes).

A big thanks to all who took the time to vote.

This week's question: What are your favorite attributes?
To vote, check out the poll on the left side of the page.

Throwing in an update aswell: Townships are now in, check it out in game with the command /town.

Haven FAQ

New map Haven: Frequently Asked Questions

So last night, Apherdite posted a thread answering lots of questions asked by the community about the new upcoming map. Some of the questions people really wanted to know was ''What will the new Economy be like?'', ''Will all of my hard work be lost?'', ''What will happen to the Herocraft Olympics'' and ''What about the 1.7 release and the new biomes?''

Click here to read the answers to those and many more questions.

Note: The date of the map wipe has been changed to Friday, 4th October. This is because of some features not being completly finished yet that we really want to be in with the new map.

''Big ol Attribute Guide''

Attribute Guide

One of the new features that Haven is bringing to Herocraft are attributes. Attributes is a feature allowing you to customize your class more than ever, however a lot of people don't know how the new attribute system works. The player Dakinara made an excellent guide covering what the attribution system is, how to use it and how to spend your points wisely.

''Every class can make good use of at least four attributes - a few could technically use all seven.''

To check out his guide, click here

I found a way to add more authors to the blog, so now I'll be posting trough this account rather than IGNMsGiGi

New map: Patch Notes and News

In this post I'll be adding all the patch notes and news about the new map, so check it every day to keep yourself updated on everything.

Patch notes:
  • Backpacks are making a return, if you have purchased a backpack in the past you can now see it by using /backpack
  • The new map, Haven, will start at a size of 2000x2000. However, once the 1.7 biomes are released the map will be expanded to the size of 10000x10000.
  • With the huge size of Haven, new methods of fast travel will be implemented like teleportation pads
  • Re-design of the graveyard system to allow for better recovery (Sky graveyards with teleport pads/etc)
  • A new precious material has emerged and The Exchange is buying. Ore and monsters alike will drop it on rare occurrence.
  • Removed Warrior, Mage, Healer and Rogue paths.
  • Players must now master LOSTSOUL (a better lostsoul!) in order to specialize into higher tier classes (Ex: Paladin, Necromancer, Ninja).
  • Added Class Mastery Badges, when a hero masters, they will receive a badge with their class and name.
  • Players will now have their armor and held item restored on death, items retained on death will take 20% durability hit
  • Added Supporter T9 to the forum groups.
  • Mason has been merged with Engineer. The skills are gained around the same level.
  • Added /hero prof - menu, for ease of use. Success!
  • The exchange at spawn now buys Small and Large fragments for 5 / 8 souls respectively.

  • The new chaos world and resource map will be named "Ruins".
  • T9 supporter tier will be available for $200.

This post is subject to change.

Herocraft Reborn

Presenting: Herocraft Reborn!

On October 1st, 2013 (7PM CST) There will be a new map, named Haven! All items, levels, currency, worlds, arenas, rankings and anything else not mentioned will be completely reset. The only things that will be transferred are: supporter ranks, special titles, store perks and a few cosmetic items. The new connecting IP for Herocraft will be hub.hc.to

This is a new era of Herocraft! You have the chance to start fresh, battle new foes, and become the great hero you've always dreamed about! There are some drastic changes coming to the server that you may want to know about ahead of time. Read on to learn more about Herocraft 5.0 and the changes that will affect you. If you want a full changelog, make sure to read the patch-notes.

Attributes
Players no longer gain damage, range, mana or health when they level. Instead, your character will gain attribute points. You may place these points by typing '/attributes' and distributing them via the GUI menu. With other words, you can now customize your way of playing more than ever! No more static stats for all players of a class, instead you are able to choose what to specialize in every level.

Equipment Weight
Flat armor restrictions will be removed in favor of equipment weight. Each piece of armor will weigh a certain amount, and depending on your Endurance attribute, you will be able to wear various types of armor at once. This means you have to prioritize after what sort of playstyle you have, if you focus on Endurance attributions you can be very tanky but might have to sacrifice some damage output to make up for that.

Currency
The gold standard has fallen off as the main source of currency for the realm of Herocraft. You will need to hunt, trade, vote, and do other tasks to obtain the money needed to purchase your next class, chest protection, region or township. This means no more grinding for hours underground looking after gold! With gold no longer as the main income source, players can now adventure more while still gaining profit.

Premium Monthly Subscription
No Pay2win: We're now offering a monthly subscription via paypal. These ethical perks will allow you to stand out from others and have unique subscriber only titles/pets without unbalancing gameplay for non-subscribers. Subscribe here

New Skills
There are several new skills that you will be able to add to your arsenal, so make sure to read up on the wiki when it's updated and test them out! A few examples are; BoneSpear, Whirlwind, Doomwave, Darkbolt, Blizzard, DreadAura, FeignDeath and Intervene. More information to come.

Classes & Professions
Let's mix it up! We've heard your cries, various classes and professions have been changed to better reflect their roles. Over the following months, we will be adding additional classes to Herocraft, ex. "Berzerker, Shaman, Runesmith..."

3rd Anniversary of HC!
There will be a seperate blog post for this, but if you don't want to wait you can read more about it here

New Admin: Event Coordinator!
Kainzo would like to take this time to welcome back one of our long standing staff members, Xanipher, to the Staff of Herocraft. She has played a vital role to the server and will be assuming a new position for events and the like! In the past, events were run by normal admins. However with an admin position specifically made for events, we can expect more events than ever!

In closing, the team of Herocraft would like to thank everyone who has waited patiently for a fresh start. It takes a massive amount of time and teamwork to put together a server of this size so we are recruiting devs and builders for our Adventure Map push, you can find the recruitment post here. We hope you tell your friends and enjoy Herocraft for years to come!

Runestone Update!

How do I use Runestones?

All users will now be able to obtain Runestones created by Scribes! Runestones are magical blocks that have been imbued with a location from the scribe. Simply hold a runestone in your hand and use the recall magic (/skill recall) to teleport to that runestone's location.

What skills deal with Runestones?
Minor Runestone: 2/2 uses (Requires a Diamond Block to create)
Major Runestone: 7/7 uses (Requires a Lit_Furance to create)
Giant Runestone: 15/15 uses (Requires a Netherstar to create)
Ancient Runestone: Unlimited uses (Requires a Glowing Redstone Ore to create)
RechargeRunestone: Completely recharges the Runestone, costs Redstone Wire x5
ImbueRunestone: Adds a note to the Runestone, costs glowstone dust x5

Notes:
Runestones can be recharged, reagents for recharge is sold in the DHX shoppe.
Scribes can also add notes to the runestone itself which uses a reagent of 5 glowstone dust.

How to make a Runestone!
When holding the redstoneblock, you'll need to use /skill MinorRunestone (or whatever tier you have at your level) to mark your location onto the Runestone. Remember this process takes special reagents and cannot be reversed!

Note:
To use your normal recall, just use /skill recall without holding a runestone in your hand.

HeroLobby community building contest!

HeroLobby - The new lobby that by default every player will connect to on first joining (except of course, rpg.hc.to and such will always connect to RPG) and handle cross server joining between RPG, HeroBuild, HeroGames and more in the future.

The Point of this Contest:

We're building a heavenly themed lobby world that is purely for aesthetics and not going to handle any server stuff other than portals to the individual servers the landings are designed for. The RPG landing is now officially a contest build.

For more info about the contest and on how to enter click here

Note: HeroBuild (creative.hc.to) will be open for everyone even those not whitelisted during the contest

Entries are due by July 12th, 2013

The Writers of Lore

Throughout the ages, man has written and shared the lore of their homelands.

Tales of great wars, rulers, events and even personal experiences are used like paints on a canvas, painting history's portrait. With the sharing of these tales, the past can remain alive and serve as a reminder to how far we've come.

Most cultures have a designated individual or group solely responsible for recording history. These individuals are highly respected as they will dedicate their lifetime to marking and sharing the history of their people.

In Herocraft, we call them Lore Masters.

Strongholdx

The Beginning

Appointed by Kainzo, during the late months of 2011, the Lore Masters Team began with Strongholdx.

After a few months had gone by, Kainzo chose another player, Alator, to join the team. Together, Strongholdx and Alator worked on one of Herocraft's biggest projects and helped shape the foundation of The Multiverse.

Alator

The Lore Team

The Lore Masters Team currently consists of Alator.

As the oldest Lore Master, Alator is also the head of the Lore Team. He's in charge of reviewing and accepting applications, assigning projects, managing his own projects, and doing a lot of behind the scenes work. He is currently working on documenting the general history and mechanics of the Multiverse and investigating the downfall of Dragonguarde.

Staff Positions

We're doing some house cleaning for the staff positions, out with the old and in the with the new! If you're interested in becoming a staff member for the greatest server out there, drop an application!
Kainzo

As stated above, some older and inactive staff members on the server are getting let-go to clear up some room for new players who may be interested in playing a role behind the scenes of Herocraft!

All players who are interested in applying for a staff position must read all rules and guidelines for that staff position and must be over the age of 15 (except where specified).

The Teams with open positions:
  • In-Game Positions:
    • Guide - Specializing in helping anywhere they can. Answering questions, giving input, (and maybe giving a new player a walk-through on how to get from point A to point B every now and then entails the duties for this position.
    • Proctor - White-listing new players is what being a Proctor is all about! Checking applications to meet a specific quota and making sure you weed out the occasional hackers will be your top priority as a Proctor
  • Out of Game Positions:
    • Coder - If you're good with Java and have some experience in coding and scripts, this may be a position you should look into! Our coders are experienced scripting-geniuses who not only know how to make things work, but make them work better than before. They specialize in working on the many plugins used on our Servers and play a huge role in keeping our server running smoothly and efficiently.
    • Herald - If you're handy with photoshop, video-editing software, and/or love to write and blog, then a position as a Herald may be what you're looking for. Heralds are players who focus on spreading the word of Herocraft anywhere they can from blogging to bumping forums to even creating videos and more!
    • Designer - Our Web Designers are in-charge of keeping our website up-to-date with coding and are constantly tweaking it to perfection! If you're experienced with HTML and other coding used for designing websites, why not apply for a position as one of our Designers?
    • Balance - The Balance team works behind the scenes, testing new features before they hit the server. They work along side our developers to make sure they catch the glitches and bugs before anything goes live.
  • Role Play Positions:
    • Architect - Only the most elite builders are accepted onto the team! Architects are in charge of creating exquisite works of art for the server that works well with the style of the server and the lore.
    • Loremaster - The masters of role-play and story-line development, these guys focus on the Lore of Herocraft. Lore Masters are constantly focusing on how they can bring an epic story-line to Herocraft. This may be from creating an actual tale to scripting quests to even creating concept pieces for our architects to focus on building.

Rivaling the Pantheon Since 2010

Throughout the history of Herocraft, epic architecture and creative structures have been vital to the server. Massive castles, fortresses, arenas and other structures have been cleverly designed and featured on the many maps known to Herocraft. These structures offer a grand setting to play on during exploration and even PVP/PVE events and activities.

While captivated by these amazing works of art, many stop and ask; "Who created this?". Even more inquire about how they can contribute to Herocraft's design and build things for the server.

Unlike most servers, Herocraft has several staff teams that are in charge of various elements within the community. The Architect Team is the staff team dedicated to bringing Herocraft the best and most ingenious architecture they can possibly create.

"The elite builders of the server; they're the ones with the insight to ensure projects are completed with the high level of creativity that rivals the Pantheon itself!"
-Kainzo
I'd say Kainzo nailed that one on the head.

Through teamwork and collaboration, the Architect Staff is responsible for nearly all DHX structures on the server including Bastion Keep, the sands of Warshard, the design of ForgeLight and the Hell Gate in the Nether. Other structures such as the Warshard Boat, Dragon Roosts, and our Port Spires have been designed and created by other users during our architecture contests.

Who Makes Up the Architect Team?

In the beginning of the server, the team was very small, consisting of a few people of whom were hand-picked by Kainzo to join the team and build on Herocraft's Kingdom map. Since then, the numbers have been ever-so increasing as more talented builders ask to play a role in the development of Herocraft.

Currently, there are 17 members on the Architect Team.

They are:
The Architect Team of Herocraft is:
_AMPLiFY, bluejack404, gabizou, Galaxial, j2gay, Kidwatson, Mitchodak, Moiejunur, northeaster345, sidesummy, Signod, Symbolite, TheHuntedPie, thetxlibra, TremendousFox, WoleverEntun, and xpeterc1.

Although the team is made up of so many people, there is always room for more Architects-to-be to join the staff team if they have what it takes to live up to, and exceed, Herocraft's reputation for outstanding architecture.

Unlike most teams, the Architecture Team has only one Leader - Kainzo. With some guidance from Gabizou, the team of members are all equals and nobody rules over anyone without the word of Kainzo first.

Our Final Consensus

Earlier in the month, we asked out viewers which staff positions they'd like to know about most. Here are the results:

According to the poll, our viewers are most interested in learning about Architects

Following closely behind is the Lore Master position with 5 votes, Designers with 3 votes, and then Guides with 2 votes.

This sets the order for our next several articles on these positions (excluding Guides as they were covered in our last post).

Stay tuned for future posts covering these Teams and Positions!

For anyone who is interested in applying for a position, please visit Applications Sub-Forum on the Herocraft Forums to learn about the requirements and details for the positions you're interested in.

Check back later for our next Blog Post, covering Architects

We're Here to Help!

Starting out on the server can be quite a headache for some new players.

Questions like "What are the rules?", "What mods are legal?", and even basic questions like "Where do I go?" or "How do I level up?" are asked by dozens of new players every day.

Plus, with all of the unique and custom plugins on our server, it's almost like you're learning a completely new game! Aside from the basic concept of Minecraft, we're definitely unlike any server you could ever possibly play (including the few copycat servers out there).

Thankfully, we also have something that makes us stand out from the crowd when it comes to how we treat our new players; Guides.

A Guide is a staff member that specializes in helping our new players. Appointed and promoted by the Barnubus, the Senior Guide, the job of a Guide is to answer any and all questions to help our new heroes learn about the server, and hopefully point you in the right direction so that you can become a strong and independent Hero.

Questions about the rules, navigating around the server, game-play, and anything else that's related to the Herocraft community are appropriate questions to ask a Guide. In fact, asking for help from a Guide is encouraged versus asking another player who may not know the correct answer, especially if you're asking in the Tour Channel, created specifically for new players to speak in.

Before you get on the server and begin asking anyone anything, however, it is important to first check out the rules for the server, as it is assumed that you agree to and accept our rules when you log onto our servers.

All of our rules and information about how to play the server can easily be found at our Wiki.

For those who are interested in a more in-depth look at the server, feel free to check out this wonderful "How To: Herocraft" Guide, created by one of our Guides, Archmage_Lloyd.

For more info and updates (as always) keep checking back and always be sure to visit www.HerocraftOnline.com for your exclusive and direct coverage of the latest on-goings, updates and events.

Kingdom of Oblivion - Bastion's First Official Kingdom

Paragon, Capital of the Kingdom of Oblivion;
Mayor - EldryLars
Since the dawn of time, Herocraft has known no peace in the waters of war and treason.

Darkness creeps around every corner, corruption at every gate, and suffering at every doorstep. Enemies hold grudges as new rivalries and alliances are forged; evil finds a new chance to be the cause of another region's downfall. Realms of power have collapsed, as with their respected leaders, leaving the people of Herocraft fearful of whom the next target will be.

Hope seems forsaken...

The wheel of power is forever turning in the lands of Bastion; but alas, true power has emerged victorious among the abandoned ruins of our fallen brethren. A light has finally been sent down from the heavens to shine on Bastion, and that light's name is Oblivion.

Under the watchful eye of their leader, Leftovers5, the Legion of Oblivion is now an official Kingdom on the server; the first Kingdom to make it this far in a very long time.

The left and right hands of the Kingdom, Jonsoon and Eldrylars, share power with the king as they now look over their Capital (Paragon) and 4 additional towns; Verstad, Braavos, Rapture, and Reign.

Now recognized as the most powerful Kingdom on the server, it seems the winds of alliances and rivalries may be shifting as those who are not too pleased about this change in power take aim at it's downfall.

For any information about recruitment or touring of the new Kingdom, please visit their Kingdom Thread.

A big shout out goes out to Leftovers5, Jonsoon, Eldrylars, Aryios, Nicolaos, Northeaster345, and all of the other Legion of Oblivion members who have helped push for the success of the Kingdom to make it this far!

Laggy Frames and Leaking Dungeons

As of February 23rd (Saturday), all item frames on all maps for the server will be wiped.

As discovered by Kainzo, and announced Monday night, Item Frames have been the culprit behind much of the lag on the server; specifically Item Frames with Maps in them.

The discovery was made after Kainzo temporarily shut down the server to use VisualVM. During the testing, he found 6 Item Frames with Maps, placed by Aerokii, that were close together. When Kainzo had the Item Frames broken, the TPS for the server shot up from 7 to 20 almost instantly.

Upon making this discovery, Kainzo posted;
"Until we can 1) Fix this or 2) Restrict properly, All item frames will be blocked from placement - except for admins."
Full details for this announcement can be found here.

Now then... It's time for a very important announcement (one that I'm sure nearly everyone has been waiting for)! Take a close look at the two photos below...

Server Repair - Coming Soon!

There have been some issues going on with the server freezing randomly with no obvious reasons as to why it's doing this.

Kainzo is aware of the situation and is doing all that he can to fix this issue as quickly as possible.

After much research and a few attempts at fixing this, we believe the problem may be with the Motherboard and that we unfortunately got some bad hardware to run the server on.

These are the current plans Kainzo has to fix the problem:
  1. Transition to a Dedicated Server via a respectable host ($200-$400 a month)
  2. Order new parts (Motherboard, RAM and SSD's) to repair the problem
  3. Get Collocated Box back
  4. Repair machine, replace RAM and Motherboard, add in SSD's
  5. Test the machine for several weeks as the official test server (in hopes of no more crashes)
  6. Send machine to new collocation host with DDOS protection
  7. Remove dedicated server and resume hosting from collocated box.

There is a possibility that this may not fix the problem but it's the most likely cause for the issues the server has been having. Please be patient with these bugs as this fix will not happen overnight nor will this be a cheap and easy fix.

For more information about this issue, please feel free to visit the Server Repair thread, posted by Kainzo.

Roll Out The Red Carpet...

And welcome back our most beloved Admin, Brutalacerate!

He announced late last night, on Herocraft's Facebook Page, that he's back on the server and will resume his shenanigans for all to enjoy. Let's hope this means the Dome of Death will be back for our Heroes to enjoy as Brutal is most famous for his epic DoD Events.

For those who don't know, a Dome of Death is an event, hosted by an Admin, Kainzo, or Apherdite, that usually lasts for 2 to 3 hours and gets it's name from the area being a region-ed dome, usually made of Bedrock or Glass.

In the center of that dome, the host of the event spawns monsters on all of the players, sometimes in the hundreds. It is then up to the players to party up and defend the server against these wicked and savage mobs until the last wave.

Food, tools, reagents, and even armor is occasionally dropped to help keep these Heroes fighting til the end.

Once the event is over, rewards are distributed out to all of the players who participated in the event and additional items are handed out randomly. Then, after a few more minutes, PVP is turned on and the remaining players can battle it out in hopes of getting even more rewards from fallen players.

Speaking of Events...
