Runestone Update!

How do I use Runestones?

All users will now be able to obtain Runestones created by Scribes! Runestones are magical blocks that have been imbued with a location from the scribe. Simply hold a runestone in your hand and use the recall magic (/skill recall) to teleport to that runestone's location.

What skills deal with Runestones?
Minor Runestone: 2/2 uses (Requires a Diamond Block to create)
Major Runestone: 7/7 uses (Requires a Lit_Furance to create)
Giant Runestone: 15/15 uses (Requires a Netherstar to create)
Ancient Runestone: Unlimited uses (Requires a Glowing Redstone Ore to create)
RechargeRunestone: Completely recharges the Runestone, costs Redstone Wire x5
ImbueRunestone: Adds a note to the Runestone, costs glowstone dust x5

Notes:
Runestones can be recharged, reagents for recharge is sold in the DHX shoppe.
Scribes can also add notes to the runestone itself which uses a reagent of 5 glowstone dust.

How to make a Runestone!
When holding the redstoneblock, you'll need to use /skill MinorRunestone (or whatever tier you have at your level) to mark your location onto the Runestone. Remember this process takes special reagents and cannot be reversed!

Note:
To use your normal recall, just use /skill recall without holding a runestone in your hand.

HeroLobby community building contest!

HeroLobby - The new lobby that by default every player will connect to on first joining (except of course, rpg.hc.to and such will always connect to RPG) and handle cross server joining between RPG, HeroBuild, HeroGames and more in the future.

The Point of this Contest:

We're building a heavenly themed lobby world that is purely for aesthetics and not going to handle any server stuff other than portals to the individual servers the landings are designed for. The RPG landing is now officially a contest build.

For more info about the contest and on how to enter click here

Note: HeroBuild (creative.hc.to) will be open for everyone even those not whitelisted during the contest

Entries are due by July 12th, 2013

The Writers of Lore

Throughout the ages, man has written and shared the lore of their homelands.

Tales of great wars, rulers, events and even personal experiences are used like paints on a canvas, painting history's portrait. With the sharing of these tales, the past can remain alive and serve as a reminder to how far we've come.

Most cultures have a designated individual or group solely responsible for recording history. These individuals are highly respected as they will dedicate their lifetime to marking and sharing the history of their people.

In Herocraft, we call them Lore Masters.

Strongholdx

The Beginning

Appointed by Kainzo, during the late months of 2011, the Lore Masters Team began with Strongholdx.

After a few months had gone by, Kainzo chose another player, Alator, to join the team. Together, Strongholdx and Alator worked on one of Herocraft's biggest projects and helped shape the foundation of The Multiverse.

Alator

The Lore Team

The Lore Masters Team currently consists of Alator.

As the oldest Lore Master, Alator is also the head of the Lore Team. He's in charge of reviewing and accepting applications, assigning projects, managing his own projects, and doing a lot of behind the scenes work. He is currently working on documenting the general history and mechanics of the Multiverse and investigating the downfall of Dragonguarde.

Staff Positions

We're doing some house cleaning for the staff positions, out with the old and in the with the new! If you're interested in becoming a staff member for the greatest server out there, drop an application!
Kainzo

As stated above, some older and inactive staff members on the server are getting let-go to clear up some room for new players who may be interested in playing a role behind the scenes of Herocraft!

All players who are interested in applying for a staff position must read all rules and guidelines for that staff position and must be over the age of 15 (except where specified).

The Teams with open positions:
  • In-Game Positions:
    • Guide - Specializing in helping anywhere they can. Answering questions, giving input, (and maybe giving a new player a walk-through on how to get from point A to point B every now and then entails the duties for this position.
    • Proctor - White-listing new players is what being a Proctor is all about! Checking applications to meet a specific quota and making sure you weed out the occasional hackers will be your top priority as a Proctor
  • Out of Game Positions:
    • Coder - If you're good with Java and have some experience in coding and scripts, this may be a position you should look into! Our coders are experienced scripting-geniuses who not only know how to make things work, but make them work better than before. They specialize in working on the many plugins used on our Servers and play a huge role in keeping our server running smoothly and efficiently.
    • Herald - If you're handy with photoshop, video-editing software, and/or love to write and blog, then a position as a Herald may be what you're looking for. Heralds are players who focus on spreading the word of Herocraft anywhere they can from blogging to bumping forums to even creating videos and more!
    • Designer - Our Web Designers are in-charge of keeping our website up-to-date with coding and are constantly tweaking it to perfection! If you're experienced with HTML and other coding used for designing websites, why not apply for a position as one of our Designers?
    • Balance - The Balance team works behind the scenes, testing new features before they hit the server. They work along side our developers to make sure they catch the glitches and bugs before anything goes live.
  • Role Play Positions:
    • Architect - Only the most elite builders are accepted onto the team! Architects are in charge of creating exquisite works of art for the server that works well with the style of the server and the lore.
    • Loremaster - The masters of role-play and story-line development, these guys focus on the Lore of Herocraft. Lore Masters are constantly focusing on how they can bring an epic story-line to Herocraft. This may be from creating an actual tale to scripting quests to even creating concept pieces for our architects to focus on building.

Rivaling the Pantheon Since 2010

Throughout the history of Herocraft, epic architecture and creative structures have been vital to the server. Massive castles, fortresses, arenas and other structures have been cleverly designed and featured on the many maps known to Herocraft. These structures offer a grand setting to play on during exploration and even PVP/PVE events and activities.

While captivated by these amazing works of art, many stop and ask; "Who created this?". Even more inquire about how they can contribute to Herocraft's design and build things for the server.

Unlike most servers, Herocraft has several staff teams that are in charge of various elements within the community. The Architect Team is the staff team dedicated to bringing Herocraft the best and most ingenious architecture they can possibly create.

"The elite builders of the server; they're the ones with the insight to ensure projects are completed with the high level of creativity that rivals the Pantheon itself!"
-Kainzo
I'd say Kainzo nailed that one on the head.

Through teamwork and collaboration, the Architect Staff is responsible for nearly all DHX structures on the server including Bastion Keep, the sands of Warshard, the design of ForgeLight and the Hell Gate in the Nether. Other structures such as the Warshard Boat, Dragon Roosts, and our Port Spires have been designed and created by other users during our architecture contests.

Who Makes Up the Architect Team?

In the beginning of the server, the team was very small, consisting of a few people of whom were hand-picked by Kainzo to join the team and build on Herocraft's Kingdom map. Since then, the numbers have been ever-so increasing as more talented builders ask to play a role in the development of Herocraft.

Currently, there are 17 members on the Architect Team.

They are:
The Architect Team of Herocraft is:
_AMPLiFY, bluejack404, gabizou, Galaxial, j2gay, Kidwatson, Mitchodak, Moiejunur, northeaster345, sidesummy, Signod, Symbolite, TheHuntedPie, thetxlibra, TremendousFox, WoleverEntun, and xpeterc1.

Although the team is made up of so many people, there is always room for more Architects-to-be to join the staff team if they have what it takes to live up to, and exceed, Herocraft's reputation for outstanding architecture.

Unlike most teams, the Architecture Team has only one Leader - Kainzo. With some guidance from Gabizou, the team of members are all equals and nobody rules over anyone without the word of Kainzo first.

Our Final Consensus

Earlier in the month, we asked out viewers which staff positions they'd like to know about most. Here are the results:

According to the poll, our viewers are most interested in learning about Architects

Following closely behind is the Lore Master position with 5 votes, Designers with 3 votes, and then Guides with 2 votes.

This sets the order for our next several articles on these positions (excluding Guides as they were covered in our last post).

Stay tuned for future posts covering these Teams and Positions!
